I spent some time in east Sussex reading about a fictional detective side-kick.
Lewis?
No, Hastings

Took a while to decide which way around to do this one; Lew(ie)s and Hastings are both fictional detective side kicks and both towns in east Sussex. Went with Lew(ie)s due to the different spellings.
Also, reading it back, I’m not convinced it fits the form. What do you think?

Nick,
You sound remorseful!
I think it doesn’t quite fit, since “Lewis” isn’t a place, and Hastings is. Also, I completely missed the Poirot angle until you pointed it out. This is just too refined and subtle for the blunt “Jamaica” archetype.
