DEAR SIR OR MADAM: I tuned into a website to see jokes about the Isle of Man and I didn’t like what I saw. There were jokes about South America. Now, how daft is that? And another thing: The Isle of Man’s nearest neighbour is SCOTLAND, NOT ENGLAND. REPEAT: SCOTLAND, NOT ENGLAND. Now that we’ve settle that, can we have proper jokes, as opposed to slanderous “jokes”? There is a big difference. If an outsider told a joke about England, how many people from the South Eastern part of England would laugh? Obviously, these people in the Home Counties are anally retentive. But the rest of England (Liverpool, Bristol etc.) are able to laugh at themselves. However, people who give jokes should be able to TAKE jokes, don’t you agree. Embarrassment is what makes people laugh. That is actuallyl the psychology behind laughter. Now, let’s all join together and tell jokes about Kent, Surrey, London, Watford etc.
YOURS FAITHFULLY, Desmond.
PS: We can laught at ourselves. But maybe we don’t like OTHERS to laugh at us. Think about it.
